Communicates with medical staff, other departments, and outside agencies while maintaining confidentiality.
The position requires self-motivation, creativity, and capabilities to function in a semi-autonomous role within a fast-paced and dynamic environment.
STANDARDS OF PERFORMANCE Answers and manages telephone calls and intercom, relaying information to appropriate personnel.
Prepares charts for patients (under the supervision of the RN), including the following sheets:
Flow, Physician Order, T-Sheet, and requisitions for lab and radiology.
Enters patient information into the Emergency Department Log/Register.
Ensures adherence to proper infection control, OSHA, and safety standards.
Labels each sheet/item in the medical record correctly for each patient.
Correctly inputs patient requisitions into the computer system as necessary (EKG, Respiratory Therapy, Radiology, etc.
) Secures records from previous admission and or ED visit(s) as necessary.
Transports specimens to the laboratory when the lab is busy and unable to pick-up.
Assists with the entrance and exit of non-ambulatory patients.
Empties any accumulated trash from treatment rooms, Bags linen, and deposits it in the dirty linen room.
Continuously cleans and prepares rooms for patients by keeping stretchers and exam tables clean and made, keeping floors free of trash and counters/work areas neat and clean.
Maintains an adequate supply of physician's and nursing forms and patient information and release forms.
Prepares charts for transfer, admission, and discharge, making copies when necessary.
Files copied charts daily.
Shreds copies of old records monthly.
Orders supplies and forms as necessary in collaboration with the department manager.
Compiles monthly statistics by the third day of the following month.
Assists registration with bedside registration when necessary.
Enter obtained lab specimens into the computer as ordered by the physician.
Will verify that refrigerator temperature checks have been recorded daily.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Report Maintenance problems and Hazardous conditions appropriately.
Sends out an all-page whenever a code is called.
Other duties as assigned within the job scope.
Requirements:
Minimum Level of Education:
Education level equivalent to completion of High School.
Formal Training:
Management skills with experience in planning, organizing, implementing, facilitating, interviewing, counseling, and verbal and written communications.
Licensure, Certification, Registration:
None Work
Experience:
Two years of experience in healthcare, or related industry preferred.
Intermediate computer skills with word processing and spreadsheet capabilities.

Estimated Salary: $20 to $28 per hour based on qualifications.
