TITLE: Store Manager
FLSA: Exempt
REPORTS TO: District Manager
ESSENTIAL FUNCTION: Responsibility to successfully lead, plan, organize, and control the activities of convenience store operations to include gasoline, retail, and food service.
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Store Financial Performance
Responsible for controllable costs, sales projections, and operating profit
Accountable to following systems and procedures designed to control supplies, lottery, shrink, and expenses
Ensure control and protection of store inventories by verifying quality and quantity of deliveries, must not accept damaged, spoiled, or out of date product, and make certain credits are received for all returned product
Monitor and document promos, voids, and waste; identify trends and must be proactive in finding resolution
Take corrective action to prevent or resolve inventory losses caused by employee or vendor theft and accounting errors
Follow labor budget based on established labor model, sales history, and current trends
Train and motivate employees to suggestively sell promotions and loyalty programs
Make certain store displays are set up in accordance with plan-o-grams and merchandising requirements
Follow established build-to levels for all products when ordering; must not permit vendors to deliver more than amounts requested
Ensure products are only purchased from approved vendors
Conduct inventory counts on merchandise as requested by the company and accurately account for un-sellable product
Assure proper ringing, reporting, and accounting of all sales including merchandise, gasoline, lottery, coupons, and gift cards
Complete responsibilities within established deadlines and maintain commitments
Customarily exercise discretion and independent judgment to ensure sound operations
Shift Management
Ensure that excellent standards for customer service, merchandising, operational safety, and security are met during each shift
Support the team with hands-on management style and lead with a sense of urgency and purpose
Keep restrooms clean and sanitized (toilets, sinks, counters, floors, and mirrors); stock paper products
Assist team members as needed, stay productive during each shift, and make best use of time
Complete fuel surveys and bank deposits as necessary
Complete and delegate shift checklists, daily side work, store walks, and cleaning projects and ensure the completion of tasks
Make certain store shelves, coolers, freezers, and displays are fully stocked, rotated and fronted at all times; prevent out of stocks
Maintain clean beverage, condiment, and surrounding areas, sweep floors throughout the shift, and stock all necessary supplies
Maintain cleanliness of retail and work areas including storage areas
Make certain aisles and walk ways are cleared at all times in compliance with ADA Title III requirements
Maintain cleanliness of gas pumps and make certain pump toppers, squawkers, crind strips and column signs are clean, current, and posted throughout each shift
Make certain outside lights, canopy lights, pumps, and air machine are clean and in good working condition
Monitor and empty trash containers when ?? of the way full
Create great curb appeal by keeping parking lot, walkways, landscaping, and grounds free from weeds, litter, and debris
Adhere to company safety and security practices at all times; ensure the use of wet floor signs as needed
Eat and drink in a designated area of the store away from customer view, food preparation areas, registers, and electronic equipment; hold employees accountable to do the same
Follow instructions and complete projects or tasks as requested by immediate supervisor
Complete responsibilities within established deadlines and maintain commitments
Customer Service
Maintain working knowledge of products in the store to answer employee and customer questions
Train employees to suggestively sell weekly and monthly promotions and food and beverage specials
Make certain all products in the store have an accurate price displayed
Lead by example in greeting all customers as they enter the store
Interact with customers in a respectful manner and create a friendly atmosphere
Assure fresh, hot coffee and beverages are available at all times
Aid and assist customers at self-serve islands as needed
Perform concurrent duties of non-exempt tasks during appropriate times to ensure customer satisfaction while being in charge
Food Service Responsibilities
Work with Kitchen Manager to ensure company expectations are met within the deli department
Make certain that food is fresh and ready at designated times and deli is adequately staffed
Monitor standards for shelf life, product quality, and presentation of product in the store
Make certain food is held at proper temperature; conduct temperature checks in refrigeration and freezer units.
Hold employees accountable to frequently washing hands and wearing gloves when handling ready to eat food
Ensure clean, organized food preparation areas and swept floors
Hold employees accountable to wearing hair restraints and non-slip shoes for every shift
Communication with employees and management
Speak honestly and act with integrity at all times
Effectively communicate procedures, promotions, and new products to employees
Proactively make employees aware of weekly schedule changes and confirm accuracy of hours worked
Address employee concerns in a reasonable and fair manner that is consistent with the values expected by the Company
Earn the trust of others through open, honest communication and consistent follow through
Immediately report all safety issues, incidents, and maintenance needs to the District Manager.
Coaching, development, performance, and morale of management teams and staff
Make certain employees are well trained and are able to perform their assigned job duties
Demonstrate knowledge of companys mission, purpose, and goals with the ability to help employees successfully achieve them
Anticipate and address talent needs through proactive recruitment, staffing, and training activities
Follow established interviewing and hiring procedures as required by the company
Accountable for the development of employees through the use of Parkers training materials and systems
Make certain employee applications, interview guides, reference check forms, and all other personnel information are kept in a secured location at each store
Make recommendations which are given particular weight for hiring and firing other employees within the store
Utilize review process as a tool for employee talent development, promotion, and advancement
Focus on the retention of quality employees by providing opportunities for growth and development
Provide personal recognition of employees to acknowledge their contributions
Provide a leadership climate that promotes fair and consistent application of company policies and procedures
Provide added value to the store through building relationships, supervising, coaching, and mentoring of staff
Perform other duties as assigned by management
Compliance to company standards, systems, procedures, and policies
Responsible for ensuring all employees are clocked in while on duty and prior to performing any work
Adhere to federal, state, and local laws regarding alcohol and tobacco sales and hold employees accountable for doing the same
Maintain working knowledge of policies in the employee handbook
Make certain company safety, robbery prevention, and security procedures are communicated and practiced by all employees while performing their work duties
Lead by example with excellent personal appearance, uniform, and personal hygiene standards
Properly use chemicals when cleaning and comply with SDS regulations; hold others accountable for doing the same
Must be reliable and punctual in reporting to work as scheduled; enforce company time and attendance policy
May not sign contracts on behalf of the company
Maintain confidentiality of all company information; must be forthcoming in reporting all policy and procedural violations and any wrongdoing to Management or Human Resources
May not discharge or change the pay rate for any employee without Human Resources approval
Responsible for ensuring the completion of all required documentation in compliance with payroll, state and federal labor laws, and company personnel policies
EDUCATION, EXPERIENCE AND QUALIFICATIONS:
Prior management experience in a retail operation or experience within Parkers
Must maintain a current, valid, and unrestricted drivers license
Successful completion of ServSafe Certification
Successful completion of age restricted alcohol and tobacco sales training
Successful completion of UST Training
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
Able to provide excellence in service, perform basic mathematical calculations, read and write, and understand and follow instructions
Must be detail-oriented and accurate
Must have good interpersonal and problem solving skills
Ability to multi-task effectively in a busy environment
Store Managers are scheduled a variable five day, 50 hour work week or as business necessitates

Don't Be Fooled

The fraudster will send a check to the victim who has accepted a job. The check can be for multiple reasons such as signing bonus, supplies, etc. The victim will be instructed to deposit the check and use the money for any of these reasons and then instructed to send the remaining funds to the fraudster. The check will bounce and the victim is left responsible.
